
Our mission at Kili is to help you automate tasks so that you can focus on the important stuff.

We believe that large language models will change the way we work. We want to help everyone leverage this technology. To achieve this, we've built a platform that combines the power of LLMs with a visual canvas.

No programming knowledge is required to automate tasks with Kili. Our platform helps you work through the task you want to automate iteratively, and see progress visually. Once your task is set up, we make it easy for you to run it.

Getting started


Every task in Kili consists of a series of steps. There are 4 types of steps in Kili:

### Text input step

Use this step to provide a text based input for your task. For example, a URL, company name, email address or phone number.

### File input step

This step lets you provide files for your task. For example, a PDF file for invoices or a CSV file with customer reviews.

### Custom steps

Custom steps help you take actions. For example, scraping a website, analysing some data or fetching information from an API.

This is one of Kili's most powerful features. It allows you to simply describe what you want and have Kili build it for you. It allows you to build truly custom steps that work for your workflow or use case.

### Prebuilt setps

Prebuilt steps are like custom steps, but they've been built by our team for you. We've built these steps for common actions like sending an email or a Slack message.


Tasks and steps


Every task in Kili is made up of steps. Kili allows you to connect these steps in an order that makes sense for your task. There are two important points when connecting steps:

### Order of steps

The lines on the canvas determine the order of steps for your task. For example, consider the following task that has 3 steps to gather information from a website.

### Connecting inputs and outputs

Most tasks in real life require you to take information from one step and pass it to another. For example, when you are reaching out to someone via a cold email, you typically use information about the company does to personalise the content of the email.

Kili allows you to feed the information from previous steps into the current step. This is why the order of steps is critical when automating a task.

Connecting steps


In some cases, you might want a step within a task to run only when a condition is met. For example, imagine you are trying to flag poor customer reviews to your operations team, you will want to filter conditions based on a poor score or the content of a review.

To do this, first connect your step. Once you've connected your step, you can add a condition for the step.

When you set up a condition, you can tell Kili when to run that condition. You can set up the condition based on data from a step in the task, or a predefined value. Once this is set up, any steps connected to that condition either directly or indirectly will only run when that condition is met.

Conditional steps


Once you've set up a task with Kili, we make it easy for you to run it as often as you like. There are a few ways to run your task:

### Single runs

To run you task once, run it using the single run tab. You will need to provide all the inputs required for the task.

### Bulk runs

If you want to run your task several times, you can do so by uploading a CSV. The columns of the CSV will need to match the inputs you defined for your task.

Bulk runs are currently not possible for tasks with files.

### Schedule a task

To schedule a task, choose the schedule you want to run. We currently support daily and weekly schedules. You can create as many schedules as you like. For each schedule, you will need to provide the inputs required for that task.

### Trigger a task

You can also trigger tasks based on emails. When you add an email trigger, we provide a unique email address for the task. You will need to map the contents of the email to the inputs of the task. Everytime we receive an email at the email address provided, we'll run your task.


Running tasks


We've compiled a list of the most common errors our users face. We hope the information below will help you resolve them as we work to address these directly in our product:

#### Unable to pass information between steps

If you are unable to pass information from one step to another, this is usually due to one of two reasons:

1. In some cases the format of the information from one step may not match the information from the other step. To resolve this, add a custom step to format the information into the format that you need.
2. The other reason you may not be able to pass information is because of the order of your steps. Remember that a step can only access information from steps that have already taken place.

#### Custom step not working

In some cases, creating a custom step might fail. We use LLMs to generate code for each custom step. The code generated is highly dependent on the prompt you provide. We recommend trying a more specific prompt. Try to be explicit about the data format for the outputs from the step.

#### Integrations not available

Currently, Kili only supports integrations that we have set up. We are working to resolve this so that users can integrate any API or product into Kili.
